 IMMUNIZATION,TECHNIQUES AND ROUTE

Immunization : Providing a chemical substance naturally(through mothers milk) or through vaccination to protect from disease.

Route of administration :

A. Oral Route

•       Vaccine like polio are given orally(now IV)

•       Economic with non-use of injection

•       Not prefer in vomiting condition

B. Subcutaneous Route

•       Easy injectable method

•       Injectable in layer below the skin

•       Volume limitation (up to 1-2ml) given

•       Absorption is slow, so therapeutics can metabolize

C. Intramuscular Route

•       Larger volume of distribution than SC

•       Uniform bioavailability than SC

•       Difficult to penetrate in hard muscle animal

D. Intravenous Route

•       100% Bio-availability

•       Precise control of dose administration

•       Rapid action

•       Better for irritant and general anesthesia

•       Bubble inside injection lead problem

•       Shorter duration of action.

Major techniques during vaccination :

•       First clean the injecting area

•       Maintain the drug dosage as prescribed

•       Prevention of vaccine interaction

•       Don’t massage after SC injection(Rabies)
