Pyramid and Human Civilization

Pyramids are some of the greatest legacies of ancient human civilization and some of the world's greatest works of architecture. When we think of pyramids, the first structures that come to mind are those constructed for the Pharaohs of Egypt. However, the country with the most pyramids is actually Sudan, counting over 255 pyramids and temples, pyramids are present all over the world.

These pyramids ranged from tombs to temples, some are even believed to map out the stars. The most famous pyramids in the world are the three pyramids of Giza in Egypt. Egyptologists have spent decades studying those massive structures trying to understand how and why they were built. They believe the three pyramids of Giza were fully covered and smooth and shiny casing made of limestone and to date, most Egyptologists agree that their purpose was to be tombs for the pharaohs. The pyramids were believed to be vessels to guide the pharaohs into the afterlife. They contain multiple enter chambers with hieroglyphics that archaeologists believe are directions to ensure the safe journey of the Pharaoh to the afterlife. But their unique architecture has left archaeologists puzzled and wondering if there is much more to those pyramids than meets the eye.

Most surprisingly, all three pyramids have hallways that connect them to each other. To our current knowledge, the world's oldest pyramid is the Step Pyramid of Djoser. Also in Egypt, the pyramid takes its name from its shape of six steps called massiveness. Previously, traditional tombs were rectangular and made of one master book, the master Abba covered underground passages that housed the dead. However, the famous architect Imhotep believed that Djoser, who was a well liked Pharaoh in his day deserved a more impressive tomb, and so he decided to build multiple masters on top of each other, which gave the shape of the pyramid. The world's largest pyramid is the Great Pyramid of Cholula in Mexico, visitors nowadays can see a church built on top of it confusing it for a very large hill instead, but in fact, it is one of the largest manmade structures ever, it is almost twice the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Although most of the stonework remains buried in the ground, many of the outlines of the massive pyramid remain visible. But perhaps the most magical pyramid in the world is the cuckoo Khan pyramid, commonly referred to as El Castillo that dominates the sight of Chichen Itza in Mexico.

Tourists from all over the globe flocked to El Castillo to witness a natural phenomenon that only happens twice a year at the Spring and Fall equinoxes as the equinox sunsets, a play of light and shadow seems to give life to what appears as a snake. The ancient Mayan civilization viewed it as the manifestation of the god cuckoo Khan, the Feathered Serpent. The pyramids in Sudan are called the Nubian pyramids. They were constructed by the rulers of the ancient Kushite kingdoms in an area of the Nile Valley known as nuvia. The Nubian kings were influenced by the ancient Egyptians. The first pyramids in Sudan were built in 751 BCE and used as tools for the kings and queens and wealthy citizens of Napa and Moroni. Archeologists have so far discovered over 255 pyramids built across four royal pyramid field sites and Nubia.

Pyramids are shrouded with mystery and they have always fascinated archaeologists. Some believe that numerous pyramids are hiding somewhere in jungles waiting to be discovered. Pyramids are a fascinating example of the intricate technology of ancient civilizations. Some conspiracy theorists believe that ancient civilizations were assisted by aliens who helped them build these massive and brilliant structures.
